Dear Bayliss Scholarship Applicant:

Industry friends established The John Bayliss Broadcast Foundation in 1985 to perpetuate the memory of radio executive John Bayliss and his many contributions to the radio business. The underlying theme of the Foundation is the development of young talent for the radio industry so the broadcasting principles John Bayliss stood for live on in his name.

The Bayliss Foundation has been distributing scholarships to outstanding college broadcast students for over 23 years. In 2005, the Bayliss Foundation began a partnership with top communications schools nationwide in an effort to bring a strong radio presence to college campuses.

To be eligible, applicants:

• Are attending an institution in the United States
• Are entering their junior or senior year in college
• Are preparing for a career in the radio industry, preferably commercial radio
• Have maintained a 3.0 GPA or better
• Have an extensive history of radio-related activities
• Able to demonstrate a high degree of integrity and a personal sense of responsibility

Applicants must submit:

• A typewritten application
• A resume
• An official college transcript
• Three letters of recommendation written by people other than relatives who can evaluate
  their scholastic and personal strengths
• A two-page typewritten essay describing his/her broadcasting goals as they relate to radio
  and the ways in which they hope to achieve these goals

If you meet the above criteria, please complete the scholarship application form. You may begin to submit the original materials and four stapled photocopies to the Bayliss Foundation in March 2010. Application packets must be received by the close of business no later than April 30. The scholarship recipients will be contacted by mail and/or email in late July.
